SPIRITUAL ATMOSPHERE
Daily Chapels
Windermere High School starts each day with 20 minutes for spiritual instruction and encouragement, and worship. On Mondays we are led by various staff members. The individual classes meet with their class advisor in their homeroom twice per week. "Care Groups" for personal growth, prayer, and encouragement are an option once a week in addition to each class meeting with their advisor in homerooms. Spiritual leaders from the community are invited to share with us on Wednesdays. Friday’s chapels are conducted by each grade on a rotating schedule. These sessions include a variety of presentations designed to challenge all to live for God.
Weekly Bible Clubs
The opportunity for ministry and leadership training by conducting Children’s Bible Club in various settlements is offered to students who volunteer. These Bible Clubs are conducted by students who are given instruction and assistance by staff members. These weekly clubs for primary school children are led in nearby settlements after school hours. Activities include Bible stories, Bible memory work, singing, games, missionary and object lessons.
Spiritual Emphasis
Spiritual instruction and encouragement at Windermere includes two special events during each school year. These are a Fall Spiritual Emphasis for a two-day period of time and another one in Spring. Regular school classes are dismissed during this time. Each grade leads a session. Features for their session may include praise and worship, drama, interpretive dance, skits, puppet plays, and special musical numbers. A special speaker comes to present God’s word to students and staff.
Care Groups
"Care Group" is a weekly meeting of a voluntary small group of students with a staff member. The purpose of this meeting is for each one involved to receive encouragement from others and to give encouragement to the others in the group. The encouragement is in the areas of living the Christian life in a positive way and help in standing firm in our Christian life and testimony. The main ingredient of Care Group is to focus on Biblical teachings in these areas and to pray for one another. The intent is for each group to meet the specific needs of its members under the direction of the staff member in charge of the group.
Student Christian Movement
SCM is a ministry concerned with the development of the social, academic and spiritual growth of the students here at Windermere. Students participate in Bible study, debates, craft and other positive activities. These activities have been in place since September 2001. Meetings are held each week. Visitation ministries to other schools, churches and the community are also encouraged. We thank God for the success this ministry has had in fostering the maturity and spiritual growth of our young people.
